Date
Fall Semester 2020

This project is located in the industrial areas of Sharjah, north of Dubai, which primarily house working-class expatriates and support informal networks of commerce. These areas remain
underdeveloped, lacking adequate housing, and are somewhat disconnected from the rest of the city. Rapid population growth has increased the demand for affordable housing and better integration into the urban fabric.
The design focuses on flexibility and adaptability, empowering residents to shape their own living spaces. Through modular construction and customizable layouts, the project introduces a sense of incompleteness that allows it to grow and evolve with increasing housing demands. By fostering porous connections between work, living, and leisure, the project encourages human scale interactions and coexistence across social groups, creating a more resilient, inclusive, and integrated urban environment.
